Review: Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Exciting, intriguing, charming and edge-of-the-seat reading!

“Cinder” is the first book in the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer. It is a beautiful retelling of the classic fairytale, Cinderella. I can begin to explain how much I appreciated this incredible novel 🙂 . I loved the character’s developments, the thrilling plot and the stunning world Marissa Meyer builded. 

“Even in the Future the Story Begins with Once Upon a Time.”

“Cinder” is set in a futuristic world with the tale of a teenage cyborg who must fight for Earth’s survival against villains from outer space, the Lunars; a civilization brainwashed by a totalitarian leader in Luna, Queen Levana. After her world is caught between the mysteries of the hospital and the royal castle, she is forced to take decisions that will forever change her life and the sake of Earthens.

Humans and androids crowd the streets of New Beijing, where technology has reached a peak in its advances. The story follows the life of Cinder, a cyborg girl who is the best mechanic in New Beijing. This book is set in a world were a worldwide pandemic and an inminent war is arising between Earthens and the civilization of Luna. 

I adored Meyer’s writing style, she did an incredible job with telling us this Cinderella fairy tale with her changes and additions that made this story so engaging and exciting :). It wasa very original and authentic storyline with unique and sensational chraracters that left us wanting more after book one.

You all know how much I love intriguing and remarkable characters; Cinder definitely fulfilled thatrole and has an incredible development after living her whole life as underminded girl and overlooked for the fact of being a cyborg. By the end of the book, she stepped up and took her role as leader and is ready to face the challenges her new life brings. 

The ending had me in tears because my mind was programmed to have a “happy ever after” ending like all fairy tales but it was not at all what I was expecting. It surpassed my expectation and amazed me with all the twists and turns; it made me love “Cinder” a lot more! I could not stop reading since I began this book and after finsihing it I had to start reading Scarlet, book two in The Lunar Chronicles. I could not have enough of Marissa Meyer’s irresistible books! 😉

The Lunar Chronicles became one of my favorite series! I loved the amazing idea of the fairy tale retellings and Cinder has to be my favorite one of all four books because it gives us the beginning of this exhilirating adventure. I fell in love with the characters Marissa Meyer created (Kai is the most adorable and sweet prince charming we could ask for 😀 ) and the beautiful and pleasable romance she developed!

“We have the ability to love each other, no matter our differences. To help each other, no matter our weaknesses.”

A deadly plague that ravages the population, an intriguing villain, an admirable hero and a charming prince. The fate of Earth hinges on one girl who has the power to destroy the enemies from Luna.

Cinder is an intriguing and exciting must read! I put in a good word this book and you should with no doubt check it out if you are a retell fan or a science fiction or romance lover!
